CASS Certified
CASS (Coding Accuracy Support System) is a USPS program which certifies mailers, service
bureaus and software vendors to improve the accuracy of the zip code information. The CASS
certification helps to ensure the lowest possible postage rates and best postal discounts.
Bar-coding for postal discounts must be performed by a CASS certified software. The
bar-coding capability of popular word processing software is generally not CASS certified.
CASS certified software must be updated frequently throughout the year to qualify for
postal discounts.
Automation Postal Discounts
Automation postal discounts are allowed by the post office, generally, because pieces
meeting certain requirements are able to be run through USPS machines rather than
manually. Among the requirements are quantity, size, bar-coding, tabbing, and in some
cases, a return address.

File Formats
When you send a file to AAA Mailing/Surface Printing, it can be any one of a number of
file formats. The most common is an ASCII Comma delimited file. A Dbase or .dbf file, or
Microsoft Access, Excel or Word, or a Microsoft Works file is also a workable format. We
